The Kitchen to Dr. Frankenstein’s Lab

Stones and lab scene are hand-painted on paper table cloths. Applied to cabinets with tape to cover cabinet doors and drawers.

I collected wine bottles, glass jars and unusual shaped bottles at flea markets, relabeled them with self-made labels on beige colored paper which gives the look of old labels. Test tubes with red food coloring and flasks give an authentic look to the lab. Spiders and webbing add the final touch. Water with food coloring gives an assortment of liquids in greens, yellows and even blues.

Blood samples are a must. I used an old wooden box to house the samples. Perfume bottles make good touches to other lab bottles. Plastic florist tubes make good blood sample tubes. Unusual wine cork stoppers make good stoppers inside brown-glassed bottles.

Candy eyes in glass jars look eerie. Brain in a jar, simply made from a paper cut out brain (found in internet) and placed in a jar. No mess and no smell as opposed to using cauliflower.

I added red foil to the light fixtures to give the lab an eerie effect at night.

I really had fun making the kitchen lab. I guess anything you use will look good. It’s so easy to collect weird-looking bottles at flea markets or even from grocery items. Just think twice before throwing away glass jars or bottles throughout the year.
